I took a typing class in american high school. The structured approach worked well for me, but I struggled with my words per minute and ability to develop any sort of reliable rhythm.
I reapproached my learning strategy to touch typing after I discovered I had aphantasia.
I now feel the words and where the keys are on the keyboard and can now maintain roughly 60 wpm for about 10 minutes.
