I lament one amazing opportunity that Harris missed.

Trump believes that tariffs are paid by "foreign nations" and would raise billions if not trillions. Harris should simply have said, slowly and clearly, "I'm afraid Donald does not understand that tariffs are paid NOT by foreign nations but by DOMESTIC importers, U.S. Companies in other words, who will, naturally, undoubtedly, and immediately pass these costs on to the U.S. consumer boosting cost of goods and food and skyrocketing inflation."

Had she taken the time to really explain this clearly, so that even the more moronic Trumpists would have understood, she could have shown Trump up for the ignoramus that he is and scored a huge point.

As I said, I lament the missed opportunity.

I imagine she'll spend the next few years lamenting some of the things she didn't say. I agree that there were a few moments where she had opportunities to go quite a bit harder than she did. I continually found myself thinking "Say this! Say this! Say this!" But for someone on the spot on a tense night like that, she performed about as well as I could have reasonably expected. I feared she might lose, so I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out. Thanks for reading, Ulf!

Excellent recap. Kamala was clearly the winner. Her prosecutorial skills served her and us well. It was a joy to watch the orange faced jerk lose his battle with decorum and calm. What a sight to behold! And Kamala enjoyed it as much as we did. GO BLUE!! 💙🇺🇸

It really was! I don't think I've ever enjoyed myself during a debate so much. With Biden it was truly a dismal affair to watch. Thanks so much for reading, Diana!

The frustrating thing is that it has taken Democrats so long to figure this thin skinned worm out. All you have to do with an arrogant, entitled jerk like that is talk about how he's had everything handed to him his whole life on a silver platter. The only difference is that the DNC is finally running somebody who HASN'T had everything handed to her. My big concern when Biden dropped out was that Kamala would be passed over. We still have a long way to go.
